Dryers with adjustable nozzles for better agglomeration flexibility
GEA Niro has recently developed the concept of adjustable nozzles in its spray dryers. The new system allows the nozzles within the dryer to be moved in relation to each other to enable fine adjustments in the powder properties while the dryer is running.
ConsiGma™ wins GEA Product Innovation Contest 2008
And the winner is … ConsiGma™. The acronym stands for „Continuous Granulation and Drying System” in combination with the Six-Sigma philosophy – an innovation in the manufacture of granules for tablet production.
New Bioethanol Decanter – DG 300: special design for safe hot operation
The DG 300 decanter is the new development with a hybrid design. It has been built and designed for applications in industrial biotechnology, the chemical industry, starch technology and the food industry.
High-tech T!TAN robotic milking system
The T!TAN milking robot of GEA Farm Technologies is a state-of-the-art milking system that enables the cows to be milked when they choose.
GEA makes just-in-time installation possible
“Just in time” delivery is not only in demand in automobile manufacturing but also for ventilation systems. For large scale systems, meticulous planning is often necessary. For example, for the central system of a large clothing store in Berlin, several teams worked together in close cooperation to manage delivery and installation in a period of one day. The size and weight of the GEA system consisting of 14 modules meant that the plan would be a considerable challenge.
Reduce costs and save the environment
By using the new VARIPURE® cleaners for tank and vessel cleaning GEA’s customers can reduce their investment expenses and additionally protect the environment. The cleaners by GEA Tuchenhagen are carefully designed and need a minimum of cleaning media, they achieve an optimal cleaning result by means of a strong, mechanical spray pattern.
Top-notch engineering
Plate heat exchangers from GEA Ecoflex prove their worth in the world's largest test center in the paper manufacturing industry. It would be hard to find another product whose roots go back thousands of years, but can still cause a sensation today. You can rely on the paper industry to come up with a surprise for its customers time after time. But innovations aren't just chance discoveries. In the Paper Technology Center (PTC) the search for new ideas has been given a professional approach and a large-scale test center for all aspects of paper production has been set up. And plate heat exchangers from GEA Ecoflex guarantee the right process temperatures.
New 24/7 PMO Valve™ for non-stop production in dairy plants
In cases where any blending of materials results in a disaster, the GEA Tuchenhagen mixproof valve has been doing a fantastic job for 40 years. It is the basic element for an entire valve tool box that continues to meet all requirements and yields new groundbreaking developments again and again. A recent example: The 24/7 PMO Valve™. By 1967, GEA Tuchenhagen had attained its goal: A newly developed mixproof valve was the first to enable manufacturers to separate two media or products in a completely blending safe manner. To be more specific, VARIVENT® made it possible to...
Cameras help spray dryers perform better
Niro A/S has developed a revolutionary system to monitor the performance of spray nozzles system in its dryers, using TV cameras. The cameras show a continuous picture of the spray zone allowing operators to ensure that there are no leaks or any build-up of solid matter and that the spray dispersal within the drying chamber remains at an optimum level.
Unique process for the dealcoholization of wheat beer
GEA Wiegand were awarded the order for the delivery of a plant for the dealcoholization of wheat beer by Private Weissbierbrauerei G. Schneider & Sohn in Kelheim, Germany, in the middle of 2007. Taste tests led to the decision in favor of the GEA Wiegand process. The plant is a 2-effect falling film evaporator which is particularly suited for this application. GEA Wiegand developed this process already during the 80s and this process stands out for...
Safe processes in compact form
Heat exchangers are at the core of many technical processes. Reliability and robustness are two of the qualities found at the top of the list of requirements. As space is generally at a premium in most chemical facilities, a compact unit offering maximum performance is what is needed. An example of this in practical operation is the new GEABloc series in an adipic acid production plant.
A virtual smoker’s booth with 100% smoke capture
Wherever the GEA Clarifair air-control and filter system is in use, the problem of second hand smoke vanishes into nothing but pure air. At the service counter, at the dinner table, or in the tea room in an office: GEA Clarifair fights smoke where it originates.
Direct Extraction Decanter combines two essential process stages
Extraction is a separating stage which is characterized by low energy requirements. It is the technology of the future in many technical applications, for instance biotechnology, the pharmaceutical and food industries as well as environmental protection, all of which are key areas of life sciences. With the decanter for continuous direct extraction, Westfalia Separator has succeeded in developing a centrifuge which combines two essential process stages...
The first greenhouse in the Netherlands without using natural gas
The first greenhouse in the Netherlands without using natural gas but using a high efficiency heat pump system from Grasso. The Dutch Phalaenopsis (Orchid) grower Maurice van der Hoorn has built a greenhouse of approx. 15.000 m². Half of it requires cooling (+20°C), while the other half requires warmth (+28°C).
Niro A/S develops a DRYING KINETICS ANALYZER™
Niro A/S has developed a novel DRYING KINETICS ANALYZER™ that can be used to design an industrial scale spray dryer for a given product based on a feed sample as small as a few milliliters reducing the time spent on pilot tests.
